Clara Ingram Grubbs

View Video Tribute Clara Naomi Ingram Grubbs, 100, died peacefully at her home on Moore Lane in Culleoka on April 29, 2012. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Chaplain Eddie Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Bryant Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 5 - 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 12:00 noon until time of service at the funeral home. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Daniel Mack Ingram and Carrie West Ingram. She was born October 22, 1911 in a two storey log home on the very same site as her Moore Lane residence. She was a graduate of Marshall County High School and the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. She taught school for thirty-five years throughout the state in Johnson City, Spring City, Bells and Columbia. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma honorary teachers fraternity, Mynders F.C.E. Club and Bigbyville United Methodist Church. Survivors include her daughter, Rebecca (Douglas) Heinsohn of Culleoka, grandchildren, Elizabeth (Keith) Alderson, Leigh (Mark) Anderson both of Columbia, John Nelson of Honolulu, Hawaii; great grandchildren, Chris Alderson, Samuel Alderson, Abigail Alderson, Jacob Anderson, Summer Anderson; step-grandchildren, Catina Hamrick, Richard Heinsohn both of Nashville, Kirk Heinsohn of Gatlinburg, and step-great grandchildren, Jeremiah Hamrick and Joshua Hamrick. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ethridge Coleman Grubbs on January 12, 1987, infant son, John, sisters, Ella Tankersley, Carrie Lee Phillips, and brothers, Dan Ingram, Mac Ingram and Lewis Ingram. Active pallbearers will be John Nelson, Keith Alderson, Mark Anderson, Chris Alderson, Jacob Anderson and Kirk Heinsohn. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Wells, James Tankersley, Dan Tankersley, Emmett Barker, Phillip Arnold, David Arnold and Ling Kwong Sui. The family suggests memorials to Alzheimer's Association, 4205 Hillsboro Pike, Suite 216, Nashville, TN 37215 or Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 23 East 26th St., New York, NY, 10010.
