Clarence Darrell "Dad" Hanvy, 82, retired ironworker for the Tennessee Valley Authority and resident of Morningside Lane, died Thursday, October 4, 2007 in the Hospice Unit at Alvin C. York Medical Center in Murfreesboro. Graveside services will be conducted Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery_with Elmer Lusk and Mike Williams officiating. Military honors at the graveside will be provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Saturday at Oakes & Nichols.Memorials may be made to Eastside Church of Christ Building Fund, 1024 East Valley Drive, Columbia 38401. He attended Maury County schools and served in the U. S. Navy during World War II as a member of the crew of the USS New Orleans.. Mr. Hanvy was a member of Eastside Church of Christ, Iron Workers Local #492, and was a Kentucky Colonel.He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Clara Lorraine Nutt Hanvy in 1990. Survivors include two daughters, Ann (Jerry) Uzzell of Hohenwald and Judy (James) Dickey of Columbia; two sons, Capt. James George (Jan) Hanvy of Spring Hill and Billy Darrell (Jill) Hanvy of Spring Hill; eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by sisters and brothers, Lorene Frazier, Wilma Jean Hanvy, Mildred Marie Bersano, Pauline H. Wallace, Jeff Hanvy, Jr., Bobby Hanvy, Austin Hanvy, and Elvin Wayne Hanvy. Active pallbearers are Jon Dickey, Daryl Hanvy, Jason Dickey, James Dickey, Jerry Dickey, Steve Hanvy, Phillip Hanvy, Jim Nutt, Bob Flippo, Manuel Young, Tom Hann, and Brandon Hanvy. Honorary pallbearers include Jerry Wakefield, men of Brown's Chapel Church of Christ, Iron Workers Local #492, and VFW Post members.
