Clarence E. "Smokey" Tomlin, Jr., 72 owner of Tomlin Construction Company, Inc., retired member of Ironworkers' Local 492 and resident of Canaan Road in Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday, September 11, 2004 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Pastor Ronnie Thomas officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends after 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com He was the son of the late Clarence E. Tomlin, Sr. and Virginia Green Tomlin. Survivors include his wife, Marie Wall Tomlin of Columbia; three sons, Dale (Sharon) Tomlin of Columbia, Ronnie Tomlin of Mt. Pleasant, Michael Tomlin of Columbia; five grandchildren, Jason Tomlin, Angela (Isidro) Velasquez, Sonya Tomlin, Michelle Tomlin, Matthew Tomlin; two step-children, Dawn (Jamie) Shepard of Dublin, Georgia, Jeffrey Hand of Murfreesboro; ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Neal Tomlin. Active pallbearers are Max Ezell, Jerry Fly, Ronnie Spears, Wayne Legg, Doug Rogers, Ray Gibson, Jesse Northcott, Ricky Manning. Honorary pallbearers include members of Ironworkers Local 492, Dr. Steven Woodley, Dr. Robert Bain, Glenn Lumpkins, employees of Visteon Automotive Systems of Nashville, Cytec Industries of Mt. Pleasant, ICU Staff at Maury Regional Hospital, employees of G.A.F. Materials Corporation of Nashville.
