Mrs. Claryce Simcox Arms, 90, retired missionary and former resident of Lyles, Tennessee, died Monday, October 22, 2007 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 A.M. Friday at Bon Aqua United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Barker and Rev. Tom Herring officiating. Burial will be in Bon Aqua Methodist Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Bon Aqua United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 261, Bon Aqua, Tennessee 37025. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. A native of Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Grover Cleveland Simcox and Emma Edward Simcox Hartwigsen. She was married to Wallace R. Arms who preceded her in death on April 24, 1995. She graduated high school in Iowa and received her Masters Degree from George Peabody University. She served twenty-two years as a Methodist missionary in Panama and Chile. She had taught school fifteen years at the Tennessee School for the Blind. Mrs. Arms was a member of Bon Aqua United Methodist Church where she was choir director for several years and a member of the United Methodist Women. Survivors include two sons, Jon Wallace (Diana) Arms of Conway, Arkansas and David Matthew (Carolyn) Arms of Columbia; six grandchildren, Terri Sue (Glenn) Leatherwood, Christy Pope, Melanie (Charlie) Fox, Renee (Dan) Burt, Melissa (Jace) Holbrook, Kimberly (Joey) Ruhl; and thirteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Marilyn Adams and Cherie Shelly. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
