Claude Kimery Ervin

Claude Kimery "C. K." Ervin, 73, retired sales representative for Clark Hardware Company and resident of Carol Drive, died Tuesday at Vanderbilt University Medical Center after battling congestive heart failure. Graveside services will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery with Rev. Ezell Rose officiating. Military honors at graveside will be provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 10:00 to 1:30 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. The Marshall County native was the son of the late Claude Ervin and Susie Kimery Ervin. He spent his early life in Bedford County, graduated from Shelbyville Central High School, and attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. From 1955 to 1959 he served in the U. S. Air Force. Prior to moving to Columbia in 1980, he managed Knox Pitts Hardware Store in Shelbyville. He owned and enjoyed spending time on his farm in the Campbell Station Community. Survivors include his best friend and companion since their marriage, June 1, 1990, Judy McCandless Waggoner of Columbia; children, Sharon Ervin (Dick) Harris of Dallastown, Pennsylvania, Darlene Ervin Waggoner of Wartrace, Frances Ervin (Rocky) Cook of Shelbyville, David Nash (Janet) Ervin of Mountain Home, Idaho, Vikki Waggoner (Steve Bagby) of Clarksville, Gerald Waggoner, Jr. of Memphis, and Col. John (Lisa) Waggoner, serving in the U. S. Air Force in Germany; sisters, Nancy Ervin (Bobby) Powell of Wartrace, Susan Ervin (Larry) Callis of Carey, Ohio, Emilie Ervin (Sam) Powell of Signal Mountain; brother, Nat (Bonnie) Ervin of Chapmansboro; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. Grandsons and family will serve as active pallbearers. Dan James and Shannon Pope will serve as honorary pallbearers.
