Mr. Claudie Ray Lindsey, 94, retired employee of Tennessee Department of Employment Security and resident of Adair Avenue, passed away September 4, 2021 at NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care. A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Polk Memorial Gardens with Lawrence Jackson officiating. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born August 16, 1927 in Maury County, he was the youngest of fifteen children of the late John Frank Lindsey and the late Fannie Carolyn Blankinship Lindsey. He graduated from Columbia Central High School and Columbia Business College. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War, stationed fourteen months in Germany. Mr. Lindsey retired after thirty-two years employment with the State of Tennessee. He was a member of Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19 and a lifelong member of The Church of God of Prophecy. He is survived by a sister-in-law, Virginia Lindsey of Columbia; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Lois Young, Bertie Bibb, Thelma Lindsey, Catherine Lindsey, Doris Church; and nine brothers, Paul Lindsey, Leon Lindsey, Herbert Lindsey, Elmer Lindsey, Wallace Lindsey, Clyde Lindsey, Robert Lindsey, Calvin Lindsey, Ted Lindsey. Pallbearers will include Ritchy Graham, family and friends.
