MRS. W. L. HUNTER, JR.Mrs. Cleo Salley Hunter, 84, former long-time resident of Cleveland, Mississippi and resident of Pillow Due Lane in Columbia for the past eighteen years, died Friday, November 15, 2002 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Jim Collins and Rev. Mike Dawson officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the West End Baptist Church, 900 West Seventh Street, Columbia, 38401 or charity of one's choice. Born in Deemer in Neshoba County, Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late John Riley Salley and Della Posey Salley. She was a graduate of Minter City High School and attended business college in Texas. Since making her home in Columbia, Mrs. Hunter was a member of the West End Baptist Church, James K. Polk Memorial Association, Trotwood Garden Club and the Maury County Union of Kings Daughters. Survivors include her husband of sixty-four years, W. L. Hunter, Jr. of Columbia; two daughters, Clista (Ray) Haley of Glen Allan, Mississippi and Diane (Craig) Poundstone of Chico, California; a son, Dr. Bill (Carolyn) Hunter of Columbia; nine grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. Active pallbearers are Craig Poundstone, Ray Haley, her grandsons and special family friend, G. R. Harden. Members of the Gleaner Sunday School Class of West End Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
