MR. CLIFFORD TIDWELL Mr. Clifford Tidwell, 65, retired electrician from Monsanto Company and the Maintenance Department at Lifecare Center, died Saturday, April 26, 2003 at his residence on Azalea Drive. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with John Vaughan and Wendell Robinson officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Willow Brook Hospice or Columbia Academy. The Hickman County native was the son of the late Jerome Tidwell and Oma McCord Tidwell and a graduate of Hickman County High School. He was a member of Graymere Church of Christ and Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19 having served in Korea from 1957 to 1959. Mr. Tidwell coached American Little League Baseball for 15 years and was responsible for bringing "Tee-Ball" to the American Little League. He also coached Babe Ruth Baseball and Girls' Softball. Survivors include his wife, Wilma Jean White Tidwell; a daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Tim Brewer; a son Michael Tidwell; grandchildren, Cassie Tidwell, Caitlyn Tidwell, Brennen Willingham, Holly Brewer; all of Columbia; a brother and sister-in-law, Reece and Elizabeth Tidwell of Fairview; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers are Roy White, Ronnie White, Mark Curry, Todd Curry, Chandler White, Justin Curry, Mike Lynch, Charles Petty,. Phillip Daughtrey, Clifton Kelley. Honorary pallbearers are Charles Rash, Jimmy Bryant, current and past elders and deacons of Graymere Church of Christ, employees of Life Care Center and retired employees of Monsanto Company.
