Mr. Clifton Ray Ledford, 82, retired from the maintenance department of Union Carbide Corporation and resident of Naydonlin Drive, died Sunday, September 24, 2006 at Columbia Care & Rehab. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Mark Ousley and Rev. Steve Swango officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. A native of Livingston, Tennessee he was the son of the late Robert Ledford and Dora Belle Smith Ledford. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Charlotte Ann Chumley Ledford of Columbia; four sons, Steven Ray Ledford of Cleveland, Ohio, Billy (Janice) Ledford, Michael (Kimberly White) Ledford, and Kevin Ledford, all of Columbia; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Ledford, Jeremy (Stephanie) Ledford, Holly Ledford Gibson, Tia Ledford Goff, Seth Ledford, Troy Hargrove, Rae Ann Ledford, and Tiffani White; nine great-grandchildren, Shelby Ledford, Stetson Ledford, Gabrielle Mayo, Mison Gibson, Hunter Hargrove, Hannah Hargrove, Shane Carter, Gage Carter, and Kayla Norman; two brothers, Tillman (Eris) Ledford and R. D. (Sammie) Ledford, both of Columbia. Family members will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are retired employees of Union Carbide Corporation.
