Clovis Sidney Dugger, 95, retired truck driver for Columbia Motor Express and resident of Murfreesboro, died Friday, September 14, 2018 at Creekside at Three Rivers Assisted Living. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 1:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Chaplain Claudia Buchanan officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born April 19, 1923 in Wayne County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Bill Dugger and the late Annie B. Frazier Dugger. He served in the 147th Field Artillery as Staff Sergeant in the United States Army during World War II from 1943-1945. While serving in the Army, Mr. Dugger earned the Good Conduct Medal, AP Theater Ribbon with Two Bronze Service Stars and One Bronze Arrowhead with One Bronze Star, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, and World War II Victory Ribbon. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed woodworking, hunting, and fishing. Survivors include his daughter, Diane (Wayne) Moore of Newport News, Virginia; sons, Jim (Rebecca) Dugger of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Michael (Kaye) Dugger of Murfreesboro; and Phillip Dugger of Smyrna; fourteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his former wife of 62 years, Edna Holt Dugger; son, Sidney Dugger; daughter, Teresa Ledford; and siblings Charlie Dugger; Esther Mathis; Effie Harris; Maggie Eastep. Active pallbearers will be family and friends. The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff of The Bridge at Hickory Woods and the staff of Creekside at Three Rivers and hospice nurses, Erin and Sharon.
