Mr. Clifton Moore "C.M." Allen, 91, retired preacher, died Monday, July 30, 2007 at his residence on Jackson Heights Road. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with his grandsons, David Fields, Stephen Fields, Chris Allen, Phillip Allen, Allen McDaniel and grandson-in-law, David Baker officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Wednesday after 5 p.m. and Thursday from 1p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Freed Hardeman University Bible Department, Office of Development, 158 E. Main St., Henderson, TN 38340. Please designate "Bible Department" on your gift. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Gibson County native was the son of the late Andrew Jefferson Allen and Mattie Elizabeth Hungerford Allen. He was a graduate of Gibson County High School and Freed Hardeman University. He was married to Grace Seymour Allen who preceded him in death April 3, 1993. Mr. Allen was a Church of Christ preacher for over fifty years in Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi. Following his retirement he worked for Derryberry Drugs. He was a member of Highland Church of Christ and volunteered his voice as a singer at funeral services for many years. Survivors include two sons, James Curtis (Anita) Allen of Columbia, Harold G. (Joyce) Allen of Spring Hill; two daughters, Dorothy ( Robert) Fields of Florence, Alabama, Linda (Sam) McDaniel of Columbia; brother-in-law, Bobby Seymour of Humboldt; one niece, Naomi Thompson of Humboldt; nine grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Thelma Whitus and three brothers, Rubard Allen, Curtis Allen and Opal Allen. Pallbearers will be David Fields, Stephen Fields, David Walden Fields, Phillip Allen, Allen McDaniel and Andrew Baker.
