View Funeral WebcastMrs. Cornelia Harris Lovell, 90, retired teacher and long-time resident of the Pottsville Community, died Saturday, May 2, 2009 at Life Care Center. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Bobby Sampson officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Born in the Holt's Corner Community in Marshall County, she was the daughter of the late Otey Franklin Harris and Dixie Lee Ferguson Harris. She was a graduate of Forrest High School in Chapel Hill and David Lipscomb University where she earned her degree in elementary education. Her entire teaching career was spent in Maury County, including schools in the Mt. Joy, Sandy Hook, Pottsville, and Pottsville-Rally Hill communities. Mrs. Lovell concluded 33 years of teaching at Spring Hill School. She was a member of Old Lasea Church of Christ for over 50 years, Maury County Retired Teachers Association, and former member of James K. Polk Association. She was married February 14, 1942 to William Graham Lovell. Mr. Lovell died May 24, 1985. Survivors include her sons, William Graham "Billy" Lovell, Jr. and Philip Otey (Sharon) Lovell, both of Columbia; a brother, Dennis (Sarah) Harris of Holt's Corner; grandchildren, Elizabeth Grace (Christopher Jon) Michels, Rebecca Graham Lovell (fiance', Daniel Douglas Sommer), Sarah Beckett (Joshua Luke) Stabile, David Philip Lovell, and Julie Beth Lovell; great-grandchild, Joshua Luke Stabile, II; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Frances Stewart and a brother, William Douglas Harris. Active pallbearers are Daniel Douglas Sommer, Christopher Jon Michels, Joshua Luke Stabile, David Philip Lovell, Kenneth Stewart, Greg Harris, Bryan Stewart, and Bill Stewart. Honorary pallbearers include Elders and Deacons of Old Lasea Church of Christ and nephews.
