Curtis M. Bowden, 83, retired employee of A-K Steel Mill in Middletown, Ohio and resident of Walnut Lane, died Saturday, May 19, 2018 at NHC Columbia.Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Donald Paul and Reverend Steve Swango officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 12:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com Born June 10, 1934 in Marshall County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Frank H. Bowden and the late Rosa M. Thomas Bowden Cothron. He was a 1953 graduate of Columbia Central High School and served in the United States Army. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, turkey hunting, and quail hunting. Mr. Bowden was a member of Loyal Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, whom he married July 20, 1960, Sara Farley Bowden of Columbia; son, Steven (Jennie) Bowden of Middletown, Ohio; and five grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ronnie Bowden in 1971.Active pallbearers will be Steven Bowden, Charles Campbell, Kent Jackson, Mike Farley, Pat Farley, Paul Sayler, and Raybon Kelley. Honorary pallbearers include Don Ganske, Carl Johnson, Arthur Wentzel, Russ Honshul, Clayton Jett, and Larry Weaver.
