Cynthia Harris Prince, 89, retired employee of Bell South Telephone Company, died Monday, September 7, 2015 at her residence in Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Proctor officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. On November 5, 1948 she married Fred Eugene Prince who preceded her in death August 11, 2009. Mrs. Prince was American Red Cross Volunteer of the Year in 2001 - 2002. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers Life Member Club. A longtime member of Highland Park Baptist Church, she was a former Sunday School teacher of the 5-year old class and a member of the Sunshine Sunday School Class. Survivors include her daughter, Linda (Ron) Wantland of Knoxville; son, Michael F. (Jan) Prince of Columbia; brother, George D. (Betty) Harris of Tennessee Ridge, TN; brother-in-law, Chesley Thomason of Columbia; adopted family, Gil, Sherry, & Justin Magallanes of Clarksville; grandchildren, Michael C. "Chad " (Jennifer) Prince of Cary , North Carolina; Matthew Corey Prince of Columbia; David Michael Wantland and Kristy (Jeff) McGaha, both of Knoxville; great grandchildren, Jaden Prince, Troy McGaha, Connor Prince, Gabriel McGaha; sisters-in-law, Sammie (R. D.) Ledford, Betty (James) Clark, Margaret Prince; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Annie Dalton, Jewell Thomason, and Mattie Lou Dalton; and three brothers, Arthur Harris, Charlie Harris, and Ewell Harris. Active pallbearers will be Dwight Ledford, Tommy Wantland, Donnie Prince, Scott Troope, Ricky Harris, Martin Harris, Bobby Prince, Marty Clark, Stephen Thomason, Pat Prince, and David Ledford. Honorary pallbearers will include members of Sunshine Sunday School Class, Deacons of Highland Park Baptist Church, Telephone Pioneers, and American Red Cross Volunteers.
