Daisy Martin Scott Ralston

Mrs. Daisy Martin Scott Ralston, 89, retired school teacher and resident of Hampshire Pike, died Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at Life Care Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with John Vaughan, Wendell Robinson and Kirk Brothers officiating. Burial will be in Wilkes Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4 - 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Wilkes Cemetery Fund, c/o Mary Sue Floyd, 2891 Williamsport Pike, Columbia, TN 38401. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Martin Bailey Scott and Daisy Murphy Scott. In 1947 she married Eugene "Gene" Hunter Ralston who preceded her in death September 9, 1994. She was a graduate of Columbia Central High School and Middle Tennessee State Teacher's College. Mrs. Ralston taught for 36 years in Maury County schools including McDowell, Beech Grove and Andrews. She and her husband had owned and operated Gene's Garden Center for many years. She was a member of Maury County Retired Teacher's Association and Maury Regional Hospital Auxiliary. Mrs. Ralston was a member of Graymere Church of Christ. Survivors include one brother, Robert Murphy (Bobby) Scott of Culleoka, four nieces and three nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ewell Scott. Pallbearers will be Stanley Scott, Steven Scott, Robert Scott, Daniel Scott, Andrew Scott, Nathaniel Scott, Carlos Irwin, Johnny Irwin, Rob Scott, Drew Scott, Campbell Scott, Carson Sharp, Ralston Smith and Scott Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be former employees of Gene's Garden Center, members of Maury Regional Hospital Auxiliary and Elmer Rummage.
