David Clark Sanders, 49, lifelong resident of Columbia, died Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care Center.A private family inurnment will be held later at McCains Cemetery with Reverend Jim Norton officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 12:00 P.M. - 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials be made to Margaret and McClary Sanders College Fund at First Farmers and Merchant Bank, 816 South Garden Street, Columbia, TN 38401. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols. Born March 10, 1968 in Murfreesboro, he was the son of Charles Clark Sanders and Ella Mae Brown Sanders. Following his graduation from Columbia Central High School in 1986, he attended Columbia State Community College and graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in 1992. He then worked at the State of Tennessee Vocational Rehabilitation Department. He was a former employee of Columbia Paint and Wallcovering, PPG of Spring Hill, and The Holden Group. David was a former member of The Sons of the American Legion and Kiwanis. He was a member of McCain's Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a former Elder. He enjoyed playing chess with his son and was greatly loved by his family, friends, and the community. David never met a stranger, and loved to make people laugh. Survivors include his wife, whom he married October 26, 1991, Suzee Jo Fitzgerald Sanders of Columbia; daughter, Margaret Mae Sanders of Columbia; son, McClary Clark Sanders of Columbia; parents, Charles and Ella Mae Sanders of Columbia; siblings, John (Monica) Sanders of Lawrenceburg; Mary (Joel) Murphy of Columbia; and Daniel (Melissa) Sanders of Mt. Pleasant; and several nieces and nephews.
