David Marshall Watkins II

David Marshall Watkins II, 77, retired engineer for MARTA, former resident of Gallatin and resident of Columbia, died Monday, May 27, 2024 at NHC Columbia. 

A Funeral Mass will be conducted Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at St Catherine of Siena Catholic Church with Father Regie Augustine officiating. Inurnment will follow in Zion Cemetery with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at St Catherine. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. 

Born January 10, 1947 in Nashville, Tennessee, he was the son of the late George W. Watkins and the late Elizabeth Murray Watkins. Mr. Watkins received his Bachelor’s Degree from Georgia State University. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and playing guitar. Mr. Watkins was of the Catholic Faith.

He is survived by his sisters, Susan Borenstein, Yvonne Pittman; daughter, Niki McMahon; son, David Marshall Watkins III; grandchildren, Devin Watkins, Dusty Watkins, Kayla McMahon, Tatum McMahon, and Sydney McMahon

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Price Watkins; and brothers, George Watkins, and William Watkins.
