View Video Tribute View Funeral Webcast Mr. David William Westmoreland, 87, retired salesman and resident of Maple Court, died Thursday, July 1, 2021 at NHC Columbia. Funeral services for Mr. Westmoreland will be conducted Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Dr. Derek Westmoreland officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service. Condolences may be sent online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born on July 24, 1933, he was the son of the late William Jennings Bryan Westmoreland and the late Cora Mai Harris Westmoreland. On October 27, 1960 he married Rubye Mai Blocker Westmoreland who preceded him death on May 17, 2017. Mr. Westmoreland was the former owner of the Book Inn in the Maury County Shopping Center for several years. He was a lifelong faithful member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include his children, James “Eddie” (Cathy) Westmoreland of Olive Branch, Mississippi and Nick Westmoreland of Columbia; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Lori Ann Worthington; four brothers and four sisters. Pallbearers will be Mark Westmoreland, Andrew Westmoreland, Matthew Westmoreland, Shea Tandy, Bobby Worthington, and Tyler Worthington. The family suggests memorials be made to C.R.E.S.T. Syndrome Research, International Scleroderma Network,455 France Ave. #266, Edina, MN. 55435-4702, in honor of his late wife, Rubye Westmoreland.
