Della May Hicks Nunley, 79, resident of Franklin, died Thursday, September 28, 2006 at Life Care Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Calvin Parker officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Pegram. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 1 - 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Columbia Academy, 1101 W. 7th St., Columbia, TN 38401 or Baja Missions, c/o Mayfair Church of Christ, 1095 Carl T. Jones Dr., Huntsville, Alabama 35802. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late George Robert Hicks and Enola Eskew Hicks. Born in Greenfield Bend, she was a descendant of original settlers of Maury County. Mrs. Nunley was a graduate of Columbia Central High School and was a member of Berry's Chapel Church of Christ in Franklin. Survivors include one son, Al (Linda) Nunley of Huntsville, AL; two daughters, Peggy Edgeworth of Muscle Shoals, AL, Jeannie (Randy) Davidson of Columbia; eleven grandchildren, Mary Dell (Bill) Railey of Durham, N.C., Alvin Nunley, IV of Huntsville, AL, Becki (Jonathan) Henson and Danny Edgeworth both of Muscle Shoals, AL, Kathi (Matt) Johnson of Florence, AL, Taylor Davidson, Austin Davidson, Emily Davidson, Bryce Davidson, Braden Davidson, Kelsey Davidson all of Columbia; four great-grandchildren, Farrah Railey-Durham, Lexi Henson, Eli Henson, Ali Henson all of Muscle Shoals, AL. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, LTC(ret) Alvin Nunley, Jr. and her sister, Adelia Hicks Jones. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
