Mr. Dennis Ray Goatz, 60, retired owner of Columbia Radiator Service died Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at his residence on Hopewell Road. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Glenwood Cemetery with Rev. Mark Jones and Gregg Elrod officiating. Military honors will be provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Thursday after 3 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, Maury County Chapter, 2000 Charlotte Ave., Nashville, TN 37203. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of Betty Childrey Goats of Columbia and the late Charles Goats. He was a 1965 graduate of Columbia Central High School and graduated in 1973 from Middle Tennessee State University with a Bachelor's degree in Marketing. On December 23, 1965 he married Patsy Ann Blair Goatz who preceded him in death September 1, 2005. Mr. Goatz served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and was stationed in Okinawa. He owned Columbia Radiator Service for 26 years. He loved collecting automobiles and his passion was especially GTOs. He was a member of North View Church of Christ. In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife, Hilda Grimes Goatz of Columbia; daughter, Stacey (Steven) Mashburn of Columbia; son, Mark (Brooke) Goatz of Columbia; sister, Susie Reece of Columbia; brother Michael Davis (Norma "Sis") Goatz of Columbia; three step-sons, Todd Prince and Damien (Holly) Prince both of Columbia, Seth Hunnicutt of Lavergne; five grandchildren, Jackson Mashburn, Parker Mashburn, Chloe Goatz, Maclaine Mashburn, Bennett Goatz all of Columbia; and four step-grandchildren, Jamie Prince, Cody Prince, Peyton Prince and Sarah Beth Prince all of Columbia. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles "Butch" Goatz and Phillip Goatz. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
