Dennis Wayne Phillips, 65, retired electrician for the General Motors Corporation and resident of Zion Crossing Court, died Thursday, October 6, 2016 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 10:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Andrew Phillips and Dave Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 3:00 - 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born March 26, 1951 in Florence, Alabama, he was the son of the late Jeffie Smith Phillips and Lonnie Dee Brewer Phillips. He was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam era as a medic with the United States Army. He enjoyed farming and Tennessee Walking Horses. Most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Phillips was a member of the Graymere Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Stanley Phillips of Columbia, whom he married December 27, 1969; daughter, Lisa Phillips Kreuzer of Columbia; son, Wayne (Denita) Phillips of Columbia; granddaughters, Jessica Phillips, Kristen Ann Phillips, Kaylin Kreuzer, and Kristen Kreuzer all of Columbia; and brothers, Danny (Charla) Phillips of New Boston, MI; Dave (Ann) Phillips of Germantown, TN; and Donnie (Myra) Phillips of Southgate, MI. Active pallbearers will be Glen Wolf, Gary Clark, David Stutts, Jerry Pritchett, Robert Phillips, and Adam Whitley.
