Mr. Dewey Luttrell Murphy, 88, retired employee of Texas Eastern Gas Co. and resident of Cheyenne Trail, died Monday, July 10, 2006 at Life Care Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Thursday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. John Rushing officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Wednesday after 4 p.m. at the funeral home. On April 2, 1938 he married Annie Bell Burney Murphy who preceded him in death February 28, 2003. Mr. Murphy was a retired supervisor at Texas Eastern Gas Co. where he had been employed for thirty years. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church. Survivors include three daughters, Rebecca (Wayne) Jones, Marlene (Andy) Harvey both of Columbia, Anita (Keith) Brumble of Ayden, NC; two sons, Dow (Elaine) Murphy of Franklin, David (Anne) Murphy of Columbia; one sister, Marjorie (Roy) Pilkinton of Nashville; three brothers, Athel (Dot) Murphy, Clifton Murphy both of Nashville, Hugh (Sue) Murphy of Smyrna; eleven grandchildren, Mark (Shari) Jones, Bethany (Gary) Baucom, Chris (Faith) Murphy, Suzanne (Matt) Gregory, Matt Murphy, Brian Brumble, Jennifer (Josh) Hammond, Brent (Kami) Harvey, Josh Harvey, Tyler (Amanda) Harvey, Allison Harvey; and fifteen great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Steve Simmons and his staff and employees at Life Care Center.
