View Video Tribute View Funeral Webcast Mr. Donald Edwin Orr, resident of Columbia, age70, passed away Sunday, February 14, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Funeral service for Mr. Orr will be conducted Sunday at 1:30 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Paster Lawrence Jackson officiating. Private family burial will take place later at Old Stand Cemetery in Shady Grove, TN, with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 12:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The family requests that everyone in attendance follow CDC guidelines on social distancing and facial covering is required. Born July 15, 1950 in Columbia, Donald was the son of the late Lyndol Orr and the late Willodyne Jacobs Orr. He served in the United States Navy during Vietnam, and then continued his service as a machinist for CSMS-M in Smyrna, as part of the Tennessee National Guard Unit, where he worked until retirement as staff sergeant in 2005. He was a former employee of Monsanto Chemical Company. Donald Orr was a man’s man. An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Orr loved fishing and riding his Harley. He was truly a man of God and always put Jesus first in all that he did. He was a good son, son-in-law, brother, brother-in –law, uncle, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He loved his family and they loved him. He was a faithful member of Columbia Church of God of Prophecy. Survivors include his beautiful wife of 46 years whom he married October 25, 1974, Corinne Church Orr of Columbia; sons, Lonnie Orr, and Jimmy Orr, grandchildren, Ciara and Lucas Orr, all of Columbia; sister, Sandra Corn of Etowah, Tennessee; and sister-in-law Carolyn Jenkins of Columbia. Mr. Orr was also preceded in death by brother-in -law William “Bill” Corn, and by nephew, Barry S. Jenkins, Jr, (BJ), who shared his uncle’s birthday. Family and friends will serve as active pallbearers. He will be truly missed.
