Donald F. Messmer, Jr.

Donald F. Messmer, Jr., 83, died Wednesday, December 29th, 2021 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Per Don’s wishes, there will not be a visitation or funeral at this time. Instead, he has requested a Christian graveside service and burial at the family’s cemetery, Goose Pond Cemetery, in Scottsboro, AL at a time in the summer when family may be able to attend and visit as extended family is spread from coast to coast. Born February 8, 1938 in Peoria, IL, he was the son of the late Donald F. Messmer, Sr. and the late Helen Jackson Messmer. He married the love of his life, Bettye Rose Frazier, on December 27, 1963. Survivors include his wife, Bettye Rose Frazier Messmer; daughters, Julie Lee (Jeff), and Hakari Draco; granddaughters, Cara Messmer, Jordyn Hawkins (Justin), Kelli Johnson (Parker), and a great grandson, Miller Johnson. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his sister, Julie Dearth and his son, Michael. The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff and caregivers at the Bridge for their care and kindness during Don’s stay at their facility.
