MR. DONALD GOAD Mr. Donald Whitfield Goad, 74, farmer, cattleman, retired employee of Spontex and resident of Jefferson Drive, died Tuesday, September 3, 2002 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11:30 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Wayne Hardison officiating. Burial will be in Knob Creek Cemetery with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The Maury County native was the son of the late Carl Whitfield Goad and Willie Mae Paul Goad. He was married to Mildred Ann Thompson Goad who preceded him in death August 10, 1997. He served in the military during the Korean Conflict. He was a 1945 graduate of Columbia Central High School, a member of the National Polled Hereford Association and very involved in Junior Achievement activities in Maury County. Mr. Goad was a member of Knob Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Sarah Elana Goad of Columbia; one son, Carl Stephen Goad of Columbia; one sister, Carlene Goad of Columbia; and one cousin, Ray Goad of Smyrna. Pallbearers will be Robert McKay, III, Jimmy Faulkner, Wayne Scott, Reddick Scott, Kenneth Scott, Kevin Westmoreland, Darren Bobo, Kevin Oliver, Glenn Goad and Neal Wall. Honorary pallbearers will be Lewis Scott, Alan Rainney, Leslie Newsom, Oscar Priest, Marion Parham, Noel Ammons, J.K. Langsdon, Charles Pigg, John William Pigg, Ralph Baker, Ray Vandiver, J.B. Long, Ron Lovell, Bronston Boone, Bob Martin, retired employees of Dupont, Spontex and the Sears Family.
