View Funeral Webcast Donald Larry “Papa Don” Dugger, Sr., 75, longtime resident of Maury County, died Wednesday January 1, 2020 at Morning Pointe of Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Donald Dugger, Jr., Andrew Phillips, and Wayne Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born April 2, 1944 in Culleoka, he was the son of the late Henry Clay Dugger and the late Janie McConnell Dugger. He was a graduate of Culleoka High School class of 1962 and went on to graduate from Carpenters Apprentice School in 1968 in Detroit, Michigan where he worked for 33 years. Mr. Dugger served in the National Guard in 1961, and from 1962 to 1965 he served in the United States Navy. On April 15, 1967, he married Donna Hopper Dugger. Mr. Dugger worked as a carpenter for Custom Dry Wall for many years, he was also a proud member of the Columbia Academy Tuesday Crew since 2000. Mr. Dugger was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it, he also served on missionary trips. He was a member of the Graymere Church of Christ. His greatest joy was being a “Papa Don” to his grandchildren and all their friends. He is survived of his wife of 52 years, Donna Dugger; daughter, Denita (Wayne) Phillips; son, Donald Dugger, Jr.; grandchildren, Jessica Phillips, Kris Ann Phillips, Max Dugger, and Grace Dugger; siblings, Henry (Charlie Ann) Dugger, Virginia (Doug) Tyree, Margaret Chapman, Doug ( Sandra) Dugger, his twin brother Ronald Dugger, Laquita Hobby, Darlene (Joe) Alexander, and Kathy (Michael) Richardson; sister-in-law, Joyce Dugger; several nieces & nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Robert “Bob” Dugger and William Dugger; sister, Carolyn Andrews; brothers-in-law, Leonard Hobby, Wayne Chapman , and Wayman Andrews; and sisters-in-law, Jackie Dugger and Nellie Dugger. Mr. Dugger’s nephews will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will include the Columbia Academy Tuesday Crew, Mike Kesler, and the Board Members Coffee Club.
