Donald Luckett

Mr. Donald Luckett, 81, retired employee of Bell South and resident of Cotton Lane in Franklin, died Sunday, August 3, 2008 at St. Thomas Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Franklin with Rev. Scott Allen and Rev. Phil Ross officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home and Wednesday after 10:00 A.M. at the church. Memorials may be made to The Gideons International, P. O. Box 663, Columbia, TN 38402. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late Barney Luckett and Bernice McClain Luckett. He was a graduate of Hampshire High School and served in the U. S. Air Force. Mr. Luckett retired from the Engineering Department of Bell South after forty years service. He was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church and Meriweather Masonic Lodge #192. Survivors include his wife of fifty-two years, Madelyn Faulkner Luckett of Franklin; two daughters, Cynthia (Greg) Smith of Clarksville; Bonnie (Steve) Moore of Decatur, Alabama; one brother, A. Wade (Betty) Luckett of Cumming, Georgia; and three grandchildren, Eli S. Moore of Decatur, Alabama; Leora E. Smith and Philip T. Smith, both of Clarksville. He was preceded in death by one sister, Janice Warner and one brother, J. R. Luckett. Pallbearers will be W. C. Hawkins, Warren Coleman, A. D. Locke, Bobby Morgan, John Kinnie, Julian Moore, Dean Kirby, Justice Hyde, and Leon Hart.
