Mr. Donald Dean "Don" Mayfield, 74, farmer and life-long resident of the Greenfield Bend Community, died Saturday, December 17, 2005 at his home on Bell Road. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Hank Shelton, Glen Mayfield and Bobby Anderson officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Woodrow Volunteer Fire Department. He was a 1949 graduate of Columbia Central High School. Mr. Mayfield was a member of the Maury County Farm Bureau and Maury County Cattlemen's Association. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Gale Lunn Mayfield of Greenfield Bend; a sister, Raye Mayfield Adams of Donelson; two nephews, William M. Adams of Hermitage and David Neal Adams of Chattanooga; a great-niece, Katie Adams and great-nephew, Jonathan Adams. Pallbearers are Buddy Harlan, Jim Pennington, James Pennington, Tim Shannon, Jimmy Hickman, Brian Hay, James Gray Delk, Jonathan Adams, Matt Sowell and Tommy Fly.
