View Funeral Webcast Donald Mitchell Lee, 75, resident of Columbia, died Thursday, December 1, 2022 at NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Joe Macer and John Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born March 7, 1947 in Maury County, he was the son of the late Virgil Eugene Lee and the late Mary Nesbitt Lee. Mr. Lee served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam. He worked for Union Carbide for over 30 years before retiring. Mr. Lee was a member of Southgate Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, whom he married in 1972, Melba Sanders Lee of Columbia; children, Tim (Lori) Lee of Columbia; Mary Beth Duff of Columbia; and grandchildren, Jackson Lee, Connor Lee, Cora Duff, Xander Duff. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Craig Lee, Eugene Lee, Cecil Lee, Billy Lee, Tony Lee, Kenneth Lee; and sisters, Lois Sims and Carolyn Sims. Active pallbearers will be Jerry Wright, Clark Wright, David Lee, Allen Ring, Tim Laws, and Chris Lynn. Honorary pallbearers include Union Carbide retirees.
