View Funeral Webcast Donald Paul Alderson, Jr., 78, retired employee of DOT and Columbia Rubber & Gasket, died Sunday, January 1, 2023 at Maury Regional Medical Center. A graveside service will be conducted Friday at 1:00 P.M. at Neapolis Cemetery with Judge Bobby Sands officiating. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born January 16, 1944 in Maury County, he was the son of the late Gladys Langston Alderson. He was a 1962 graduate of Columbia Central High School and Middle Tennessee State University in 1972 with a Business Degree. Mr. Alderson was a life-time member of the Elks Lodge and Jaycees. He was also Colonel in Volunteer Corp in the Jaycees, member of The Men’s Shop, and Graymere Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, Regina Smith Alderson of Columbia; daughter, Jill Alderson Baker of Columbia; step-daughter, Erin Shouse of Santa Fe; grandson, Landon Baker; niece, Bailey Alderson Long; nephew, Nathan Alderson; step-daughter, Sherri (Gibran) Naddy of Columbia; step-son, Bryan Story; and five step-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Rowe Alderson; and step-daughter, Megan Spivey. Active pallbearers will be Gibran Naddy, Jason Hooten, Lee Duff, Bobby Lovell, Larry Hubbell, James Kelley, Kevin Hedrick, Monte Bayless, Jason “Slick” Davis, Johnny Davis, Buford Moss, and Don B. Harmon. Honorary pallbearers include member of The Men’s Shop. The family would like to express a special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Maury Regional Medical Center.
