View Video Tribute Donald Ray Talley, 74, died Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at his residence in Mt. Juliet. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Brian Talley officiating. Burial will follow in Santa Fe Cemetery with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born March 9, 1947 in Hohenwald, he was the son of the late Samuel Clagett Talley and the late Helen Mae Casteel Talley. He served in the United States Army. On March 17, 1979 he married Patricia Huckaby Talley. Mr. Talley was a retired Post Master for the Mt. Juliet Post Office. He enjoyed fishing, reading and bowling. He was very proud of his 25 perfect 300 point games. He loved his family, especially his grandkids. Mr. Talley was a member of the Silver Springs Baptist Church in Mt. Juliet. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Huckaby Talley of Mt. Juliet; children, Rhonda (Sam) Simmons of Lebanon, Leanne Talley (Clint) Binkley of Brentwood, Brian (Michelle) Talley of Williamsport, and Kris (Steve) Collins of Las Vegas, Nevada; eleven grandchildren; brothers, Fred (Karen) Talley of Savannah and Charles (Joanie) Talley of Hohenwald; sisters, Brenda Helentjaris of Hohenwald, Marion (Jim) Sloan of Kingston Springs, Carmie (Jerry) Floyd of Hohenwald and Peggy (Billy) Potts of Hohenwald; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dwayne Talley and sisters, Marguerite Bullion and Wanda Epley. Active pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be his bowling buddies and members of Silver Springs Baptist Church. The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society P.O. Box 22478 Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73123.
