Mr. William Donald Wilkes, 71, retired employee of Monsanto, died Tuesday, September 20, 2005 at his residence on Tanyard Hollow Road. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Dr. James Sampley and Bart Whatley officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The Marshall County native was the son of the late Neal Grafton Wilkes and Jane Inman Wilkes. He was a graduate of Culleoka High School. In 1959 he married Dorothy Voss Wilkes of Culleoka who survives him. Mr. Wilkes served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Begor. He was a member of Culleoka Community Church. Survivors in addition to his wife are one daughter, Mrs. Martha Kay (Terry) Boatright of Columbia; one son, Kerry Neal Wilkes of Culleoka; three stepsons, Douglas (Elaine) McKee of Murfreesboro, Rodney (Brenda) McKee of Woodstock, Georgia; Don (Diane) McKee of Culleoka; one sister, Mrs. Marion Butler of Millington; eight grandchildren, Mrs. Jennfier (Brandon) Ogden, Miss Heather Wilkes Pearson, Mrs. Tiffany (Chris) McFarland, Rodney McKee, Jr., Mrs. Christy (Wayne) Rich, Patrick McKee, Mrs. Sybil (Stephen) Dickinson, Miss Sylvia McKee; and five great-grandchildren, Jacob Ogden, Allison McFarland, Julianna Ogden, Ethan Rich and Blake Rich. Pallbearers will be Tony Collier, Charlie Collier, Michael Wagers, David Williams, Bobby Fite, Larry Chunn, Robert Cannady, Barney Cannady, Gilbert Green and Art Cobb. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Boatright, Dr. Moataz Toban, Dr. John Worthman, Dr. C. Houston Jameson, III, staff of Columbia Oncology, Dr. W. Michael Sattasiri, employees of Monsanto Furnace Department and employees of Caris Healthcare of Maury County.
