Mrs. Dora Parks Kannon, 93, long-time resident of West 6th Street, died Friday, November 5, 2004 at Good Samaritan Health Care in Nashville. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Bob Lewis officiating. Burial will be in the Neapolis Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Monday after 12:00 Noon at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Neapolis Cemetery Association, in care of Freda Potts, Treasurer, 403 Cheyenne Trail, Columbia, 38401. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. Born in the Hampshire Community in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Walter Scott Parks and Minnie Farris Parks. She was a graduate of Hampshire High School and Middle Tennessee State University. Mrs. Kannon taught a Rally Hill School and later was on the staff of Kings Daughters School. She was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church. Survivors include two sons, Rev. James C. (Terri) Kannon, Jr. of Nashville and Clyde David (Natalie) Kannon of Regina, New Mexico; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. Active pallbearers are Jerry Grimes, Farris Grimes, Carl Grimes, David Grimes, James C. Kannon, David Kannon and Page Chamberlain.Honorary pallbearers are Mark Kannon, Michael Kannon, Sybil Kannon, Jessica Kannon, Kristin Kannon and Valerie Kannon.
