Doris Jean Johnson, 78, resident of Brannon Court, died Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Life Care Center. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Scott McCord officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. and Sunday from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late James W. Johnson and the late Viola Collins Johnson. A homemaker, she worked hard to provide for her family and loved spending time with them and her grand dog Kokomo. She enjoyed singing and working on family genealogy. Ms. Johnson was a faithful Christian woman who loved the Lord, she attended At the Cross Worship Center. Survivors include her daughter, Teresa (Ed) Straight of Columbia; son, Neal Johnson of Columbia; sister, Nola Benderman Martindale of Columbia; sister-in-law, Loretta Johnson of Arkansas; and several extended family members. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, George W. Johnson, Mahlon Johnson, Douglas Johnson, Ray Johnson; and sisters, Dorothy Himes, Wilma Turner, and Mary Agent. Active pallbearers will be Robert Johnson, Wally Walls, Derrick Walls, Daniel Walls, Kent Younger, Ken Lovett, Stephen Morton, and R. L. King. The family would like to express a special thanks to Dr. Charles Ball, the compassionate caregivers at Life Care Center of Columbia, and Tim Brashears from being such a great help and comfort to Ms. Johnson and her family.
