Mrs. Dorotha (Dot) Harrod Stack, retired Maury County teacher, died Sunday, April 15, 2007 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Bob Vassar officiating. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The McMinn County native spent her early life in Athens and was the daughter of the late Lewis J. Harrod and Gertrude Marie Guffey Harrod. She and her husband, Dr. Earl Newman Stack, came to Columbia to make their home and establish his dental practice in 1949. Dr. Stack died June 7, 1987. She was educated at East Tennessee State University and taught in the Maury County School system for 21 years. She was a member of Pleasant Heights Baptist Church. Her community activities included membership in the James K. Polk Memorial Association, Maury County Chapter, APTA, Students' Club, Thursday Club and Maury County Retired Teachers' Association. Survivors include a daughter, Ruth Marie (Ricky) Beddingfield of Spring Hill; a son, Robert Earl (Paula) Stack, II of Germantown; three grandchildren, Jon Harvey Pressnell, Jr., Robert Tyson Stack, and Courtney Orians; a great-grandchild, McKenzie Lauren Pressnell. She was preceded in death by a brother, Felix D. Harrod.
