Dorothy Jean Clark Anderson

March 17, 1931 — December 8, 2016

Dorothy Jean "Mama Dot" Clark Anderson, 85, resident of Mimosa Drive, was called to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 P.M. at The Edge Church of God on Highland Avenue with Reverend Andy Turner and Reverend Howard Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home and Sunday from 1:00 - 2:00 P.M. at the church. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born March 8, 1931 in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Clark and Pearl Isabell Clark. Mrs. Anderson worked at Dixie Manufacturing for many years and various other jobs. She was a faithful Christian her whole life and a great example to her family. She was a member of The Edge Church of God. Her passion was watching her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren play ball. She and her husband, the late Thomas "Grandy" Anderson, had attended literally thousands of ballgames. Their grandchildren and great grandchildren's eyes would always light up when they saw their Mama Dot and Grandy show up for their games. She enjoyed working in her yard, planting flowers, cooking, sewing, going to yard sales and camping with her husband. Mrs. Anderson was a very kind person and loved her family and her dog Diesel. Survivors include her children, Tommy Wayne (Carolyn) Anderson of Cross Bridges, Steve (Pam) Anderson of Williamsport, Sandra (Jerry) Bolton of Spring Hill; grandchildren, Tracy (Layne) King, Jeremy (Tiffany) Woodard, Troy Anderson, Sylina (Eric) Cannon, Matt Anderson, Adam (Leslie) Anderson, and Brittney (Brian) Parent; eleven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Thomas Anderson; brothers, William "Bill" Clark and Harold Pete Clark; and sister, Evelyn McCarty. Active pallbearers will be Jeremy Woodard, Troy Anderson, Matt Anderson, Adam Anderson, Layne King, Brian Parent, and Eric Cannon. Honorary pallbearers include special friends, Harold and Louise Holt, Ailene Wright, and members of The Edge Church of God.
