Mrs. Dorothy CosbyVideo Memories of Mrs. Dorothy Cosby Mrs. Dorothy Enolis Boyd Cosby, 83, retired school teacher and resident of Union Place Court, died Tuesday, April 26, 2005, at Maury Regional Hospital. A memorial service will be conducted at 4:00 P.M. Saturday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Gardner and Dee White officiating. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 2:00 - 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home. She was married to Floyd Cosby who preceded her in death on April 9, 1988. She was a 1940 graduate of Piggott High School in Piggott, Arkansas and attended Carbondale College in Carbondale, Illinois. At the age of 54, Mrs. Cosby received her Bachelor of Science Degree and Teaching Certificate from M.T.S.U. She taught second grade at Richland School in Giles County for several years. She had over 9000 volunteer hours with the Maury Regional Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of the Tennessee Retired Teachers Association, American Legion Auxiliary, V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, and Craft Memorial United Methodist Church. Mrs. Cosby was an avid bridge player. Survivors include two sons, James (Betty) Cosby of McCains Community; Billy W. (Sandy) Cosby of McDougal, Arkansas; two sisters, Wilma (Art) Monroe of Amarillo, Texas; Barbara (Gordon) Braun of St. Petersburg, Florida; three grandchildren, Bryce Cosby and David Cosby, both of Columbia; Greg Mohundro of Ripley, Mississippi; and one great grandchild, Elizabeth Cosby of Marshfield, Missouri. She was preceded in death by one son, Larry Cosby; one daughter-in-law, Donnie Cosby; one great grandson, Timothy James Cosby; three brothers, Robert Boyd, J. D. O'Hara and George O'Hara; and one sister, Pauline Palazzola. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Maury Regional Hospital Auxiliary.
