Dorothy May Wilsford Gilliam, 94, longtime resident of Santa Fe Pike, died peacefully Friday, March 25, 2016 at Morning Pointe surrounded by her family. A graveside service will be conducted Monday at 12:00 P.M. at Polk Memorial Gardens with her grandson Caswell Huff, II officiating. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are assisting the family with arrangements. The family suggests memorials to Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Effort, Inc., 410 Allied Drive, Nashville, TN 37211. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. A native of Honey Grove, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Justin Wilsford and the late Lula Mae Major Wilsford. On October 19, 1941, she married Herbert Thomas Gilliam, former longtime Church of Christ preacher. He preceded her in death on May 2, 2009 after sixty-seven wonderful years of marriage. Mrs. Gilliam was very supportive of her husband's ministry throughout the years. Her ultimate goals in her life were to be a loving, supportive wife and mother and faithful, loyal friend. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening and cooking. She was a former member of Graymere Church of Christ and more recently attended Highland Church of Christ. Survivors include her daughters, Joyce (Will) Cheek and Janice White, both of Columbia; Jane (Keith) Elliott and Judy (Michael Jr.) Perko, both of New Port Richey, Florida; half-brother, Jimmy (Kay) Wilsford of Lenoir City; half-sister, Sarah (Wendell) Sims of Lynnville; brother-in-law, Boyd (Lois) Gilliam of Columbia; grandchildren, Tracy Harwell, Scott (Kristie) Cheek, Caswell (Susan) Huff, II, Gay (Tim) Skelley, Tonya Underwood, Tarynn (Brian) Lovell, Jamie (Adam) Brown, Paige Perko; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Justin "Jack" Wilsford; sister, Mary Doan; and half-brother, Robert Wilsford. Grandsons and grandsons-in-law wills serve as pallbearers.
