MRS. DOROTHY HIMES Mrs. Dorothy Mae Johnson Himes, 79, resident of Columbia Health Care on Walnut Lane and former resident of Wheeler Drive, died Friday, November 14, 2003, at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Swango officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends after 12 noon Sunday at the funeral home. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late James Williamson Johnson and Viola Collins Johnson. She was married to Walter Himes who preceded her in death on May 2, 1986. Mrs. Himes had worked for many years as a seamstress at numerous clothing factories in Columbia. She was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include one son, Jerry (Sharon) Walls of Savannah; three daughters, Mrs. Judy (Bob) Shackelford of Mt. Pleasant; Mrs. Cecelia (R.L.) King of Columbia; Mrs. Marie (Clyde) Burke of Perry, Florida; one stepson, Delano (Linda) Himes of Columbia; one stepdaughter, Annice (Sam) Gateley of Bruceton, Tennessee; three sisters, Mrs. Nola Benderman (Doug) Martindale; Mary Agent, and Doris J. Johnson, all of Columbia; one brother, Ray A. (Shirlie) Johnson of Hayesville, Kansas; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; four step grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Wilma Turner; and three brothers, Douglas Johnson, George W. Johnson, and Mahlon Johnson. Pallbearers will be Wally Walls, Doug Forte, Ricky Webster, Douglas Allen Johnson, Robert Shackelford, Woody Givens, James Johnson, and Keith Brady. Honorary pallbearers will be Neal Johnson, Bubba Lentz, Albert Lentz, Mark Baker, Matthew Walls, Ed Straight, Bill Graham, Paul Tomlinson, Steve Konz, Steve Morton, Mike Morton, Dr. Douglas Kennedy, Dr. C. A. Ball, Dr. Janice Vinson, Staff and Residents of Columbia Health Care.
