Mrs. Dorothy Nell Norman Johnson, 83, retired employee of Maury Regional Hospital, died Monday, January 3, 2005, at her residence on Glenrose Drive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. William Owens officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Mt. Pleasant Freewill Baptist Church, P. O. Box 227, Mt. Pleasant, TN 38474. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Ben Hugh Norman and Mamie Peden Norman. She was married to Willard M. Johnson who preceded her in death on January 11, 1979. Mrs. Johnson had worked at Tennessee Knitting Mill before her employment at Maury Regional Hospital. Survivors include two daughters, Beverly (Wayne) Green and Darlene (Ken) Fisher, both of Columbia; one son, Willard M. (Shirley) Johnson of Columbia; four stepchildren, J. M. (Marjorie) Johnson; Bobby Johnson, Charles (Eller) Johnson; Dewey (Nancy) Johnson; eight grandchildren, Tracey Wilkinson, Ronnie Weaver, Christopher Green, Karen Gean, Jennifer King, Tammy Greska, Jeff Johnson, Katherine Burleson; five great grandchildren; fifteen step grandchildren; sixteen step great grandchildren; one step great great grandchild; and one sister, Rachael Massey; two sisters-in-law, Audrey Norman Weatherly and Ann Churchwell Norman. She was preceded in death by one stepchild, Cleophus Johnson; two brothers, Nathan Norman and Clyde Norman; and stepmother, Donnie Sharpe Norman. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Weaver, Christopher Green, Jeff Johnson, Jimmy Massey, Timothy Norman, Caleb Wilkinson, T. C. Norman, Brad Massey, Travis Massey. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Mt. Pleasant Freewill Baptist Church. The family expresses a special Thank You to Hospice of the Highland Rim, Dr. Ben Gardner, and staff of Maury Regional Hospital.
