Douglas Ewell Boehms, 83, passed from this life on May 1, 2019. Visitation will be held at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home Sunday, May 5th from 2:00 – 4:00 P.M.. A private family burial will be held at Little Lot Cemetery in Hickman County. Memorials can be made to Little Lot Methodist Cemetery, 6784 Little Lot Cemetery Road, Lyles, TN 37098. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com He was born in Hickman County on October 19, 1935 to the late Blanche Woody Boehms and L.N. Kinzer Boehms. He grew up on the family farm in Leatherwood where he developed a great love for cattle. He graduated from Hickman County High School in 1953. After moving to Columbia in 1956, he received his auctioneer and real estate licenses. Over the years, his entrepreneurial spirit coupled with his incredible work ethic led him to many great adventures; developing real estate, renovating old buildings, grooming farms and building a motel and restaurant. He requested that we specifically mention a few of the many people that influenced his incredible life; Gilbert and George Copley, L.D. Hill, Terrance Cooksey, Tom Humphrey, James “Jeep” Campbell, and Johnny Fleeman. Surviving are his daughters, Pam (Mike) Herbert and Phyllis (Jody) Herbert; grandchildren, Kathryn (Jeremy) Blackwell, Nathan Herbert, and Rachel Herbert; great grandchildren, Maverick, Kaylee, Juniper Blackwell; numerous nieces and nephews; cousins; sisters-in-law Dot Boehms Tucker and Marie Boehms. He was preceded in death by his sister, Etta Mai Skelley and brothers Bob, Lewis, Leslie, Dwight, and Paul Boehms. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ron Denwiddie, Allen Elias, Johnny Fleeman, Hector Hernandez, Wanda Kelley, Kelvin Mayberry, Bruce Peden, Lana Russell, and Dannylu Wilson.
