Douglas Houston Vaughn, Sr., 86, retired owner and operator of B.M.D. and resident of Columbia, died Monday, December 12, 2016, at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1:30 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Blevins and Mr. Vaughn's grandson, Davy Kincaid, officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 11:00 A.M. - 1:30 P.M. at the funeral home. Born November 1, 1930, in Nashville, he was the son of the late Jesse Houston Vaughn and the late Nancy Fann Vaughn. Mr. Vaughn attended Columbia Business College.He loved football and was an avid UT and Vandy fan. But his greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He served in the Masons and was a member of First Family Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife whom he married November 5, 1949, Gloria Woody Vaughn of Columbia; daughters, Teresa Gilbreath of Columbia; Pam (Allen) Kincaid of Tanner, AL; sons, D. Houston (Sherry) Vaughn, Jr. of Brentwood; Michael Woody (Sharon) Vaughn, Sr. of Columbia; grandchildren, Andrew Gilbreath, Anna Kaye Gilbreath, Brian (Keri) Kincaid, Jamie (Dennis) Smith, Curt (Margaret) Kincaid, Davy (Mallory) Kincaid, Phillip Vaughn, Lt. Emily (Darren) Gretchko, US Navy, Lt. Michael Woody (Sarah) Vaughn, Jr., US Navy; great grandchildren, Brannon Kincaid, Landon Kincaid, Elyssa Kincaid, Cody Smith, Luke Smith, Alyvia Kincaid, Auston Kincaid, Aubrey Kincaid, Vivian Kincaid, Everett Vaughn; brother-in-law, James Hoil Walker; nephews, Al (Dianne) Wood, Joel (Nancy) Wood, Cliff (Rhonda) Walker; nieces, Roxanne Wood and Dr. Lottie Walker; and several great nieces and great nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister and brother-in-law, Gladys & Alden Wood; sister-in-law, Nancy Woody Walker; and son-in-law, Clinton Gilbreath.
