Mr. Douglas Eldon "Doug" White, 59, service advisor with Bluff City Nissan and resident of Memphis, died Saturday, July 9, 2005 at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rose Hill Cemetery with Hueston Marshall officiating. The family will visit with friends Tuesday after 12 noon at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Memphis native was the son of the late Raymond Eldon White and Margaret Aileen Dickson White. He served in the United States Army from 1969-1971. In 1974 he received a Bachelor of Arts in English from Memphis State University. On November 10, 1976 he married Jean Wilkes White who survives him. Survivors in addition to his wife include one brother, Paul Dickson White of Memphis; father-in-law, Richard A. Wilkes of Mt. Pleasant; brother and sister-in-law, Richard W. and Tina Wilkes of Mt. Pleasant; three nephews, Benjamin Wilkes, Jonathan Wilkes and Nichols Wilkes all of Mt. Pleasant. He was preceded in death by one brother, Daniel Brent White and mother-in-law, Katherine Wiley Wilkes. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
