Dr. Linda Gail Parks Moore, 73, retired professor for Middle Tennessee State University at Columbia State Community College, died Saturday, December 1, 2018 at her residence in Culleoka.Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Randy Kersey officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Mount Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com .A native of Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Van Parks and Elaine Gilliam Parks. She married Henry Carl Moore, Jr. on September 13, 1963. After graduating from Columbia Central High School in 1962 and rearing her two children, she continued her education at Columbia State Community College obtaining her Bachelor’s degree in education, her Master’s degree from Middle Tennessee State University and her Doctorate degree from Vanderbilt University. Her teaching career was with the Maury County Board of Education as a special education supervisor for several years and also as a professor with Middle Tennessee State University and Columbia State Community College. She was a member of Culleoka Church of Christ, the American Angus Association, South Central Angus Association, and the Maury County Retired Teachers Association. Her hobbies included rose gardening, traveling with her friends and raising angus cattle on their farm alongside her husband. Another one of her great joys was watching her grandson Caleb play baseball.Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Henry Carl Moore, Jr. of Culleoka; children, Hank (Misty) Moore of Smyrna and Cindy (Randy) Emmitt of Columbia; two grandsons, Caleb Pitts and Trenton Boshers; sister, Nancy Crumley of Culleoka; brother, Martin Parks of Pulaski.Pallbearers will be Jason Gilliam, Johnny Allred, Wesley Hickman, Hershel Butler, Jr., Caleb Benefield, Jimmy Thompson, Jason Hardison, Steve Lynn, and Roscoe Voss. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Culleoka Church of Christ and Scribner’s Mill Church of Christ and employees and friends of the Culleoka Restaurant. The family would like to express a special thanks to Susie for the assistance she provided, Dr. Lucy Ledbetter and Associates, the staff of Northside Medical Associates and Home Health Care of Middle Tennessee and especially her nurse, Ashley Calton.
