Dr. William Bryant Lamb, 80, retired dentist and resident of Sowell Hollow Road, died Friday, November 21, 2003, at Centennial Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Graymere Church of Christ with John Vaughan officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends from 3:00 - 7:00 P.M. Saturday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home and after 1:00 P.M. Sunday at the church. The Henry County native was the son of the late Samuel Houston Lamb and Reba Lee Nanney Lamb. Dr. Lamb was a graduate of Henry County High School, Murray State, and The University of Tennessee Dental School. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II and was in the Ranger Battalion on D-Day. Prior to his retirement, he had practiced dentistry in Memphis for thirty-four years. He served as an elder at Union Avenue/Woodland Hills Church of Christ in Memphis for over thirty years and was more recently a member of Graymere Church of Christ in Columbia. Survivors include his wife of forty-eight years, Virginia Ruth Priestley Lamb of Columbia; one daughter, Mrs. Maribeth (Tim) Gordon of Columbia; one son, John (Micki) Lamb of Memphis; one sister, Mrs. Ruby (Claudio) Bobicchio of Winter Haven, Florida; two brothers, Robert Lee Lamb of Knoxville; John D. (JoAnn) Lamb of Little Rock, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Will Gordon and Jennifer Gordon, both of Columbia; William P. Lamb of Memphis; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Mike Andrews, Chesley Thomason, Glen Ferrell, James Yeager, Robert Waddell, Dewey Gray, Buddy Rogers, Howard Robinson, Charles Wortman, George Brazelton, and Ray Locke.
