View Funeral Webcast Dwight Stephen Stofel, age 74 of Paris, TN passed away on August 6, 2023 surrounded by his family after a years-long battle with Corticobasal Syndrome. Those that knew and loved Dwight will take comfort in knowing that he faced his final years in the same way that he lived, with a positive attitude and a steadfast will to carry on. Born in Columbia, TN to the late Bernard and Willie Mae Stofel, Dwight retired after a 40 year career with the Tennessee Valley Authority to live on Kentucky Lake with his wife of 50 years, Kathleen Elizabeth Stofel who survives. Dwight was a devoted husband and father/father-in-law as well as a dependable family member and friend to many. He held a deep regard for his family, friends, community and his church congregation. During retirement Dwight enjoyed many aspects of the lake life; boating, fishing, golfing, gardening and spending time with many friends and family. He was an active member of the Antioch Methodist Church. Dwight was a 1968 graduate of Columbia Central High School and attended Columbia State Community College before serving an 18-month tour of duty in the US Army, stationed in Ulm, Germany. Besides his parents, Dwight was preceded in death by his nephew, John Stofel. In addition to his wife, Dwight is survived by his son, Scott G. Stofel (Abbie), daughter, Jessica Lee Stofel, his brother, Charles W. Stofel (Barbara), nephew, George Stofel (Shannon), nieces, Claudia Adams (Bill) and Andrea Garvey (Tim) and cousin, Linda Stofel Hendley. Dwight is also survived by many cousins who he loved dearly. Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 13, 2023 at 3:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home in Columbia, TN. Burial will follow in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery in Culleoka, TN with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends from 12:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be George Stofel, Weston Stofel, Johnny Olson, David Seaton, Wade Allen, Dave Hilton Doug Wright Jr., Chris Mills, Michael Foster and Patrick Reeves. Honorary Pallbearers will be Linda Hendley, Don Allen, Howard Stone, Ed Mills, Bob Davis, Stephen Whitehead, Mike Allen, Jesse Hughes, Terry Sullivan, Joe Newton, Brian Pigue, Bobby Prentice, Dr. Vincent Tusa, members of the Paris Landing golf group, past and present employees of TVA, nurses and caregivers of Anna Mae Owen Hospice of Murray, KY and the church family of Antioch Methodist Church in Springville, TN.
