Eddie Andrews, born March 15, 1939 in Columbia, Tennessee, died Thursday, November 9, 2006 at Maury Regional Hospital following an unexpected illness. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Pastor Brian Weisinger officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. military honors will be provided by the Tennessee Army National Guard. Family and friends will visit Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. Mr. Andrews joined the United States Army at the age of 18, retiring after over 20 years of service with the U. S. Army and Tennessee Army National Guard. He served 9 years active duty with a 2-yer tour in South Korea during the Korean Conflict and a 3-year tour in West Germany during the Vietnam era.He received numerous decorations and awards throughout his military career. Mr. Andrews owned and operated several small businesses throughout his life and had employment with Monsanto Company, The Nashville Banner and The Tennessean newspapers, R. P. Williams Company and Averitt Trucking. He also served as a firefighter with the City of Columbia Fire Department. He attended Columbia Central High School and Columbia State Community College. He obtained his pilot's license in 1975 to fly private and commercial flights. He enjoyed all types of outdoor activities, including flying, motorcycle riding, camping, and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charley Glenson Andrews and Audie Mai Parrish Andrews; a daughter, Vicky Andrews; a sister, Betty Andrews Howell, and a brother, C. G. Andrews.Survivors include his wife, Jane Marie Foster Andrews of Columbia; a daughter, Tammy (David) Adams of Columbia; a son, Greg (Tonya) Andrews of Columbia; step-daughter, Janean (Geoff) Newkirk of Chapel Hill; the mother of his children Jean Carroll Saine of Columbia ; 3 sisters, Nadine Masterson of California, Delores "Dee" Andrews of Tampa, Florida, Kathy Andrews of Tampa, Florida; 4 brothers, Sam (Marylou) Andrews of Columbia, Gilly (Jimmie) Andrews of Mt. Pleasant, Jerry (Brenda) Andrews of Hohenwald, Randy Andrews of Murfresboro; grandchildren, Brianna Adams, John-Michael Adams; step-grandchildren, Chaney Turnbo, Mackenzie Newkirk, and Noah Newkirk; . Mr. Andrews will be sadly missed by all of his family, friends, and his loving dog, Prissy. Active pallbearers are Geoff Newkirk, Chaney Turnbo, Alby Woodard, Robert Beets, Gene Hight, and R. P. Williams. Honorary pallbearers include employees of Andrews Absolute Communications, employees of Averitt Trucking Company, Jeff Dunbar, Ray "Donnie" Foster, Dewayne Foster, and Jeff Kirtley.
