View Funeral Webcast Edith Sarah Cole Shelton, 89, homemaker and resident of Alpine Drive, died Sunday, July 12, 2009 at NHC Hillview. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Ezell Rose officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Arthur Cole and Ivie Lunn Cole and member of Riverview Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Joyce (Wayne) Shelby of Lawrence County; sons, Bill (Betty Jo) Shelton and Thurman Dean (Sandra) Shelton, of Columbia; sisters, Aubrey Aileen Flory of Greenville, Ohio, Shelia Ann West of Shelbyville, Martha (Polly) Burgess of Savannah; brother, Arthur Harlan Cole of Carrolton, Georgia; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman Stephen "Dick" Shelton on July 16, 2003 and brothers, Herbert Elgan Cole and James Thomas Cole. Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
