Edith Brock Smith

June 28, 1916 — February 10, 2006

Mrs. Edith Brock Smith, 89, widow of Hubert Smith and resident of Hampton Road, died Friday, February 10, 2006 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Kevin Maxey and Dorris Rader officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends after 1:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. The Limestone, Alabama native was the daughter of the late Athie Brock and Thellie Clem Brock. For a number of years she was employed in the cafeteria of Brown Elementary School and was a member of the Mooresville Pike Church of Christ. Survivors include two daughters, Joan (Douglas) Hethcoat and Jane (Roger) Dodson, of Columbia; three sons, Donald (Linda) Smith of Columbia, Phillip (Betty) Smith of Lynnville and James Smith of Nashville; two brothers, Ronald (Gladys) Brock of Decatur, Alabama and John Ed Brock of Detroit, Michigan; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.She was preceded in death by two daughters, Shelby Jean Smith and Linda Brown and a son, Morris Smith. Family and friends will serve as active pallbearers. Members of Mooresville Pike Church of Christ will serve as honorary pallbearers.
