Edna Elaine Martin Hutcherson

Edna Elaine Martin Hutcherson, 88 years young, longtime resident of Carters Creek Community, went to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, December 12, 2016. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 10:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Lasting Hope Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Ed Lewis Martin and the late Mary Elizabeth Lane Martin. On March 16, 1946, she married Walter Merrill "Hutch" Hutcherson and their sixty-five-year marriage ended with his death December 15, 2011. Mrs. Hutcherson was a beautiful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. For several years, she served as a school crossing guard in Metro Nashville. She found great joy in nature: raising flowers, gardening, and yardwork. She was an avid doll collector. Mrs. Hutcherson was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Spring Hill and a member of Beech Grove Church of Christ. Survivors include her daughter, Brenda Evetts of Columbia; sons, Gary (Cara) Hutcherson of Tuscumbia; Terry (Mona) Hutcherson of Hixson; David (Julie) Hutcherson of Columbia; grandchildren, Randal Evetts, Bobby Evetts, Marty (Joy) Hutcherson, Carrie (Anthony "Bubba") Stewart, Brian (Barbara) Hutcherson, Rachel (Jackie) McCrary, Cody Hutcherson, Ryan Hutcherson; seventeen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; sister-in-law, Johnnie Hutcherson of Columbia; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by son-in-law, Terry Evetts; sisters and their husbands, Thelma (Mack) Parrish, Elsie (Robert) Parrish, Mildred (Clifford) Hutcherson, Mary (Charles) Griggs; brothers, Sam Martin, William "Bill" (Hester) Martin; step-mother, Sarah Elizabeth "Miss Sally" Posey Martin. Pallbearers will be Randal Evetts, Bobby Evetts, Marty Hutcherson, Brian Hutcherson, Cody Hutcherson, Ryan Hutcherson, Logan Stewart, Jackie McCrary, and Anthony Stewart.
